Exercise is performed on the ring muscles through limb and back muscles, vocal exercises, imagination exercises, and sometimes encouraged by free work / exercise / practice, with the body leading the exercise according to its needs.
As a private lesson. Exercises are given by the therapist according to the condition and capability of the patient – sitting, lying down, standing or walking. The lesson’s progress is not planned and mapped out in advance. The therapist suggests exercises according to the patient’s responses during the lesson.
Usually 45 minutes.
The exercises stimulate chain reactions in the body. Usually, reactions are physical-sensory or motor reactions. Sometimes emotional reactions do occur. The patient, together with the therapist, decides whether to deal with emotional problems or to steer clear of them.
Between 12 to 20 lessons. After the first two or three lessons the duration of the process becomes clearer.
There is no “right” or “wrong” in Paula method. Different people react differently to the same exercise according to their needs. Reactions can range from strong and externalized, through introverted and delicate, to relaxation, tranquility and sleep. Yet nothing is fixed, and sometimes, after a period when “nothing happens”, the body changes the way of works and responds.
You don’t have to be uninhibited to benefit from the method. Each person benefits according to his/her own character.
During “free work” the teacher guides the student so as to enable work in an open atmosphere, without guidance, control and monitoring, and thus authentic work is attained, that enables the body to heal itself.
Certainly, it is possible and very worthwhile. Work is performed through massages, that stimulate and activate the ring muscle system, and through the ring muscles it stimulated all the systems in the body. In parallel, the teacher provides a family member with guidance on how to work with the baby at home.
It is indeed possible to exercise even when you feel weak and tired, suffer from pain and constraints. Treatment is performed with gentle exercises, contact, massage, imagination – all according to the patient’s abilities.
There are indeed different schools of thought within the method. In addition, each teacher brings his/her own inclinations, experience and unique character to the method.
